Do you love World Cup? Do you think you can help make it even better? The IQA is assembling – farther in advance than ever – a volunteer national organizing team for World Cup VI to work closely with the local organizing group for whichever team/city wins the bid.

Ideal candidates must be dedicated, quidditch-loving individuals with event organizing experience, willing to make a year and a half commitment. There is no requirement for location – everyone will work and communicate via email and video conference – but all must be willing to take initiative and able to work with a team, while also being self-sufficient and task-oriented.
The IQA will be selecting applicants with a range of skills focused around event organizing. Priority will be given to those experienced with organizing quidditch tournaments, but any sports events, parties, conventions, concerts, and so on are applicable. Additional skills in budget management and financing, scheduling, personnel management, general leadership, fundraising, grantwriting, PR and promotions, are all ideal.
If selected, please be aware that this job will be 10-20 hours a week in the months preparing for the event, and possibly more as the event gets closer.
Most importantly, the IQA seeks members who will make this one of their biggest priorities for the next year and a half. We do not seek multi-taskers and over-achievers who are presidents of five other clubs at the same time. Applicants do not have to be college-aged.
Some members may need to make at least one trip to the event site during the bidding process (January – April 2011) and all members will be expected to arrive at least 1-2 weeks in advance of the World Cup in April 2013 (transportation and accommodations provided by the IQA).
To apply, please fill out this form and send your resume, with cover letter and list of references, to worldcup@internationalquidditch.org.
The cover letter should explain why you would be a good candidate for the team (please avoid repeating all of the information that is on your resume), and why you want to be on the team. Letters of recommendation are optional, but encouraged.
We are taking applications through January 8.

I think I should shave my head and leave the beard
Anyways this was a huuuge commitment and you do tons and tons of actual work. I really want people to think hard about if they really have time to commit to it first before signing up! I remember at WC I was there 3 or 4 days early and from day one I got less than 4hrs of sleep a night in preparation for the event, and some people namely Benepe stayed longer and slept less. That being said it was an amazingly rewarding experience that I want to do again! “More college trophy please Sheggings!”

I am now officially upset that I can’t take part, as yet again, Exam Season get in the way of the world Cup. And yet again I can’t go and see it. I now dislike Britain and my Education.

I’m from Pakistan. I really want to be a part of organizing team of the Quidditch World Cup, but I cannot come to the US/UK. Plus I’m in university, so have some assignments there. Can I apply? Because this is one opportunity I don’t wanna miss

Hi, I was just wondering if you had to be a certain age in order to help organize. I’m only 15 and I don’t have a lot of organizational experience. Is it okay for me to apply being only 15 and having little organizational experience?
Best Wishes

Hey, I have a few questions. I’m not sure if I could make it to the retreats because of some financial restrctions and a few family constrictions. But I would still like to help organize. MaybeI could help from my home and I am also still in highschool. So if someone could email me that would be great

Hi Mason and Ashley, you should both definitely apply. And even if you don’t get accepted on to the team there are definitely ways you can still help and gain experience, and perhaps in future years you can help run the event!

Hi again Alex,
The recommendation letter is taking time because right now it’s holidays at my university. I saw that the form is saying ‘no longer accepting responses’, and I freaked out. Please still accept mine. Do tell me what should I do now? I am quite worried.
