I’m happy to see that Chicago has the second highest number of nominations for this. Chicago should be the next city for the World Cup, go Chi Town! who needs the Olympics when you can have the World Cup, right?

It’s not the second most nominated city; it was the second city nominated. No one knows how many nominations have been made for each city.

I want to nominate my city, Toronto, but I’m not an official member of anything, just a huge Quidditch and Harry Potter fan. If anyone from Toronto who has authority is reading this, I really think you should nominate it. It’s a great city with great venues. We’re hosting the Pan Am Games in 2015!

Please keep it in NYC! It is a great way to spend a fall weekend! Also, we have plenty of food, hotel rooms, major airports, and over 140 languages spoken just in Queens!

I’d like to make a correction: it would be in Kansas City, Missouri. KCK is a crappy place…
And to Donald, it’s not in order of votes, it’s in order received.

Should each member of each team fill out one of these forms or just the one member who wants to be the ‘primary respondent’? The many teams in the Chicagoland area would very much like to see World Cup VI in Chicago.

^And not just those from “Chicagoland.” My understanding is that multiple teams/powers that be can nominate.

Definetly keep it in NYC. The IQA has built a solid fan base in NY and many people who have attended the past two world cups, including myself, would not be able to make it if it were in the Midwest.
That being said, I think a formal bidding process is a great idea.

Moving somewhere besides new York would also start creating a bigger fan base

New York is also one of the more expensive places to get to, let alone the cost of hotels, the amount of traffic, and the high gas prices. There’s no reason a place can’t be found that is more accessible and affordable for teams around the country (and world) to get to.
For example, just outside NYC? It’d certainly avoid the traffic

Definitely want it in the midwest. NYC is a bit too far to try to travel. I think that a lot more people would show up if it were in the midwest. North East teams are the only ones opposed to moving it, and that’s only because they would have to travel like the rest of us do.

I think Kansas City KS would be perfect, it’s right in the middle which means It’s equal distance for a lot of people, I just think it makes sense

The thing is, equal distance doesn’t mean equal travel convenience. One of the good things about it being in NYC is that there are so many easy and relatively inexpensive ways to get to NYC, whereas a place like Kansas, while geographically in the middle, doesn’t offer as many travel options. It’s just something to consider.

I think it would be wonderful to have the world cup in Kansas City! There’s no place like the Heartland, where people could rather easily travel, and to expose Quidditch here in large numbers, showing that it really is the thing to do!
Also, I would be able to actually make it this year, and show off my love for Qudditch, a truly great sport!

People have a point when they say that there is already a fan base in NY. Fan base is important to consider, moving it to another city will drop attendance. Fewer attendees means less profit, less profit doesn’t bode well for the cup.

I was going to post to make this point, but I’m happy to see that someone already did. I don’t think that the national event could break even, let alone make a profit, if it were held in any location other than New York City to pull in enough spectators that were not associated with any team. I would love to see the IQA put a greater effort into making regionals more significant events across the country though.

I hope the World Cup is in the Mid-West, because I love Quidditch and it’d would be easy to get to! I could definitely make it to Kansas City and Omaha (I’m from Omaha and nominated it!) and maybe even Chicago! Hope it’s close though! As for the Mid-West Regional, I really hope it’s in Omaha because that would be awesome!

It’s faster and easier for Louisiana teams such as LSU to compete with teams in Texas than teams in Florida. They’ve been to numerous tournaments in Texas in the past year.

Totally should be in Orlando
reason: that’s where Harry Potter World is
if we can…we should get Universal to sponsor it!

Orlando is perfect! Not only is Wizarding World there along with all its magical Harry Potter goodness, MCO is an international airport (for all the foreign teams), it also has tons of parks and fields and stadiums that can be used for the actual event. There are also quite a few hotels that are close to said fields and to Orlando’s many attractions, some have even participated in Harry Potter related events before! Plus Disney World and Lego Land are there as well. Not to mention the fact that Florida weather will definitely be at least 70-80 degrees in November and therefore quite perfect for hosting a tournament.

I agree, Orlando is a natural place to host a World Cup. Like NYC it has a world class airport which would allow access from all over the states.
Its a big enough city to draw in spectators, and The State of Florida is the home of the “Swamp Cup” and has many enthusiastic Quidditch teams which include World Cup V’s contender, the University of Florida.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is worth checking out, and would certainly be a crossover draw for many players and spectators.
There are lots of hotels, and cheap places to eat, as it is a city built around tourism. (Yes, it is the number one tourist destination in the World.)

Orlando would be perfect for WC! Why not take hundreds of HP fans to the location of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter? Maybe we could even set something up like Leaky Con did? And even if we couldn’t, i’m sure more fans would want to make the trip to be able to go to both WC and WWoHP! Andddd the climates nice! and on a completely unrelated to quidditch note: disney happens to be there too. =p
just a couple of thoughts. =)

I know from talking to players on Univ. of Florida that whenever they try to cooperate with Warner Bros and Harry Potter World, WB threatens to sue the sport of Quidditch for copywrite infrigement. I hope Quidditch never stoops down to the level of corporations.

I think Orlando is clearly ideal here. People travel there ALL year long, so a lot of people who might not go JUST for the QWC would be able to come and bring families and such to do the parks, etc. Plus, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter draws thousands of Harry Potter fans to Orlando all year round (Trust me, I’ve been 3 times now, and it’s ALWAYS the most packed section of the park).
I’m from the Atlanta area myself, and would love to see a Georgia would cup, but I honestly just don’t think it’s a good idea right now.
And Chicago is a great place, too, but LeakyCon is already there this year. And – no offense – but it’s not SO great a place that HP fans would want to travel there twice in one semester, ya know?
Just some things to put on the table.
