From The Guardian:
“Despite its success in the States and Canada, Muggle Quidditch has been slow to catch on in the home of the Harry Potter stories, although it has beenĀ attempted by students at universities including Nottingham and Warwick and there has been talk of setting up a British league.
Barry and his fellow players hope that its time has finally come. “The word is spreading,” he said. “I think each time we’ve played we’ve pretty much doubled our numbers. We started off with 20, then 40, then 80.” Many of the players would like to see Quidditch recognised as an official university sport, a step that would open the way to a Varsity match against Cambridge and a Half Blue, such as Ultimate Frisbee and Eton Fives.”

I swear, when I Get to Cambridge, if they don’t have a Quiditch Team, I’m making it.

I may only be in Secondary School, but my mind is really set on setting up a “Junior Quidditch League”. Trouble is, most British people don’t want to, so i’m glad the Oxford has taken the leap of faith to start up the game over here!

Hey, I’m one of the players that participated in the Oxford quidditch games. Impressed how quickly this got up here
.
It’s a regular thing now, every Saturday. I hear there’s talk of a league along with college teams being set up (There are around 30 colleges in Oxford, so we can have a big tournament just with us), along with some matches against other British universities.
