Six teams advance to Ives Pond finals

by Alex Benepe | January 21st, 2012

This is an evolving report story that will be updated with new information as the event goes on.

The temperature is dropping at Delaware Park in Buffalo, NY, home of the 2nd Annual Ives Pond Invitational. While there is a moderate level of snow on the ground, it is nothing, thankfully, compared to the blizzard conditions of last year.

All ten teams are in great spirits and there is a joyous spirit in the air, thanks to the winter festival taking place around the tournament.

Competition has been clean but fierce. One concussion has led to an ambulance trip for a SUNY Geneseo player, while a U Ottawa player had a bleeding nose, among other injuries.

Tune into @mugglequidditch and @Benepe on twitter for pictures and updates.

Current Standings:

Pittsburgh 4-0
Ives Pond 3-1
Ottawa 3-1
Rochester 3-1
RIT 2-2
Carleton 2-2
Geneseo 1-3
Edinboro 1-3
WEQL 1-3
Syracuse 0-4

The top 6 teams are advancing to finals. More information coming soon, with video later tonight.

I know the uOttawa player is my brother based on the photo that was tweeted. Was the bloody nose all he had or were there more injuries?

Awww, Reilly’s brother. (So cute!) It was just a bloody nose, don’t worry. He and another player also had very sore ankles, so they’re both off to physio this week.
