Ohio Cup coming April 14

by Alex Benepe | February 1st, 2012

The largest quidditch tournament in Ohio to date is coming to OSU on April 14.

From the OSU Captain Luke Changet:

The 2nd Annual Ohio Cup will be held on April 14th from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

The tournament will be held at Fred Beekman park on OSU’s campus in Columbus. It will be hosted by the OSU Quidditch League, and we plan on having all IQA-official Ohio teams attending, as well as several high-profile area teams.

Pre-registration is open to anyone. IQA official teams will have priority in registration, followed by Ohio teams, then priority will be given in the order final registration is received. We were planning for 12 teams, but due to high demand, we are considering adding a third field and expanding the tournament to 14-15 teams.

This is by far the largest tournament in Ohio history to date, and will also be the last large quidditch event of the year in the Midwest.

This Friday, February 3rd, is the final day to pre-register. You must fill out the pre-registration to attend. Filling out the pre-registration will only sign you up to receive an email with more information in the coming weeks.

Gah, one thing I forgot to get in this article.

At Ohio Cup, we will be giving teams the option of playing with Penalty Shots. I posted the specifics for how these will work on the forums. We are using Ohio Cup as a testing ground for the potential new rule. So that’s something.

Are high school teams allowed to register? ( probably not but worth asking)

Dante, we will allow IQA official high school teams, but College/community teams will have priority in order to ensure a fair level of play for all teams. If you’re interested in registering late, email me at lchanget@gmail.com
