Apply to be a junior director on the IQA board

by Alicia Radford | April 2nd, 2012

The IQA board of directors is adding a position on the board for one current player within the quidditch community. The IQA board of directors is responsible for guiding the long-term vision of the league, ensuring its financial solvency, and evaluating the performance of its chief executives. It is the job of the IQA management team, comprised of the directors of the IQA’s six departments (Game Play, Teams, Marketing, Development, HR, Tech) to carry out that vision in the day-to-day operations of the company.

board of directors

The junior director will have the same rights and privileges as every other director on the board. He or she will be required to attend two out of three board meetings per year, which take place in different locations throughout the United States. One meeting is always via Skype.

The junior director position must always be filled by an active member of an IQA official quidditch team and must be at least 18 years of age. The term limit for the junior director is one year. At the conclusion of each term, if the junior director still meets the requirements for the position, a new term may be considered.

The junior director will join CEO Alex Benepe, COO Alicia Radford, Peter Chen, Harrison Homel, Aimee Howarth, Kristen Howarth, Max Kaplan, Jared Kowalczyk, Xander Manshel, Kate Olen, and Alex Terry.

Application Process

All candidates must have at least one year of experience with their team, either as a player, manager, or coach. Candidates must be affiliated with an official member team.

Strong candidates should have a developed sense of professionalism and decorum, a diverse skill set, and a demonstrable positive impact on their team’s growth and development. The best candidates will have a strong vision for the future of the league and the ability to articulate it.

To apply, please send a resume, statement of purpose, and two letters of recommendation to juniordirector@internationalquidditch.org. Please apply by May 15. Do you know someone who is a strong candidate? Comment below to recommend him or her.

Does one school year count or a full 12 months to be eligible?

    One school year is fine.

So if I started quidditch this school year (September), and April 30 is effectively the end of our season, that would be okay?

(Oh, it’s April 30 because our dead week/finals weeks are the first two weeks in May)

“Candidates must be affiliated with an official member team.”

Official referee, but oh well. I suppose I’ll just wait for an opening with the IQA that doesn’t require official team affiliation, or allows certified refs to apply (once that becomes a thing).

Michael Magnotta would make a great candidate for this. I implore you to email him and request he send in an application.
