Part I can be found here: Common Rulebook Myths (and the truth), Part I
Myth
If the snitch runner picks up a bludger and hits me with it, I am knocked out.
Fact
If the snitch runner picks up a bludger and hits you with it, nothing happens. You are not knocked out, because that bludger was not thrown or kicked by a beater, and thus never became live.
The Rule
2.6 The Knockout Effect, Getting Knocked Out: “The bludger must leave the hand or foot of the attacking beater before it hits the other player in order to take effect.”
Myth
No matter what is going on in the rest of the game, the seekers and snitch continue to play.
Fact
When the snitch is on the pitch and play is stopped, the seekers must stop as well.
The Rule
1.3 Stopping Play, Procedure: “When the referee blows the whistle twice, all players must stop immediately (except for seekers when the snitch is not on the pitch) and remain exactly where they are when the whistle blows. If the snitch returns to the pitch during a stoppage, seekers are required to stop until play resumes.”
Myth
The quaffle has to leave the hand of a player before it counts as a score.
Fact
So long as the entire quaffle passes through the hoop, the goal counts, even if the scorer never releases it (say, by diving through a hoop).
The Rule
2.2 Goal Scoring: “A goal is scored when the whole quaffle passes through one of the hoops, and no infringement of the rules of the game has been committed by the scoring team immediately prior to or during the goal.” “Any part or the entirety of the scoring player’s body may pass through the hoop during a legal score.”
Myth
If a bludger hits my broom, it doesn’t count. Or if it grazes my shorts. And it definitely doesn’t count if I get beat in the hair.
Fact
Yes it does. This is why I just got my hair cut. Still haven’t transitioned to short shorts, though.
The Rule
2.6 The Knockout Effect, Getting Knocked Out: “If a player is struck with a live bludger on any part of her body (including the head) or any part of her broom or clothing, that player has been ‘knocked out.’”

I like the first one, because it’s not a rule that most people will realize while just reading through the handbook. The other two…I mean, if people are really believing those, they haven’t read the handbook.
In other words, I’d love to see some more Common Rulebook Myths that delve into circumstances that require very close reading/interpretation of the Handbook to realize.
