Regional Selection Update

by Ethan Sturm | June 30th, 2012

After 48 hours of intense runoff voting, two more regions have selected their regional location. But things are still heating up in the Southwest, where it will take one more round of voting to select the winning bid.

Thanks to an extremely active and efficient membership base, two day regional location runoff voting in the West, Southwest and Midwest went off without a hitch. Each region had at least 10 votes from official member teams, and your voices have been heard.

In the West, after a hotly contested original vote, the winning bid walked away with a unanimous decision, a nod to the cohesiveness and strong communication lines in the region. Things were not quite as clear cut in the Midwest, but the winning location still took home a significant majority of the votes.

This just leaves the Southwest, which couldn’t narrow it down to two bids after the first round of runoff voting, and now needs another runoff vote to decide the final winner. Austin lost out to College Station and Denton by a single vote, eliminating it from contention and leaving us with one final regional vote between the two Texas cities. Voting will close at 11:59 p.m. EST on Sunday, July 1st, and the bid receiving the majority will be declared the location of the Southwest Regional Championships. In the event of a tie, the decision will be left to the Southwest Regional Staff.

For those still waiting to hear where there Regional Championship will be, we ask that you please remain patient. We are in contact with the winning bids in the West, Midwest, Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, and once we have the go ahead we will release the winners. We appreciate your patience, support and votes, and we wish both the College Station and Denton bids good luck in the final runoff vote.
