I’d like to be a copy editor. Let’s see if I can get everything in by the 17th. Let’s make quidditch an Olympic sport.

Should the edits on the copy editor submissions be left as markups or be shown as a final copy?

Markups would be best, but we will accept a final copy.

Can foreigners apply as well? I’d like to be a writer, but I’m afraid I wouldn’t have many news to write about from experience. So I’d settle for copy editor — is that allowed for non-native English speakers, provided that they speak English fluently and can write formal text beautifully?

Will writers be paid anything for their work? I am 15 and in pretty desperate need of a paying job.

Hi Chris,
Unfortunately, the IQA is an entirely volunteer organization and is unable to compensate you monetarily.

Quick question: are we allowed to apply for more than one position just in case we aren’t chosen for one? Or should we just choose one to apply for and hope for the best?

Hello! I’m so excited about this.
I have experience as an copy editor and article writer, but the only editing examples I have are for an episodic-story company.
Would it be acceptable to send examples of the stories I have to edit, or would you prefer it if I found someone to write an article and send the edited version of that?
Thank you for your time!

I’m going to have to ask a stupid question but what is MLA or AP style? I’m from England and I’ve never heard of either.

By “non-prose” do you mean something along the lines of poetry, or do you mean non-prose like text with graphs and charts as pictorial illustrations?
