If you were already getting out your bell-bottom jeans for Quidstock this fall, you will have to wait a year – the IQA is postponing the event. After extensive research and discussion, organizers have recently decided not to host Quidstock this year in order to better focus league resources on regional championships.

“Since this is the first year we are making regionals a qualifying event for World Cup, we want to make sure we do it right. While we had a lot of excitement around the Quidstock event and still plan to host it in the future, we ultimately decided that the timing was not good for adding a new event to the IQA’s lineup,” said IQA Commissioner Alex Benepe.
The IQA will be instead postponing the first Quidstock to fall 2013. Sam Harris, Skidmore Quidditch President, will be one of the event coordinators, and he is already working on assembling an organizing team. Registration for the new event will be announced once materials are ready. “I’m excited that we have an additional year to prepare for the event,” said Sam. “This will allow teams and players more time to raise money to attend, and ultimately make the event better organized and more fun as a whole.”
