QUAFL Cup

by Allyson Burton | November 30th, 2012

By Allyson Burton

For ten teams in the Australian Quidditch Association, months of hard work will soon culminate in intense competition at Oceania’s Regional Championship, the Quidditch Universities of Australia Federation League (QUAFL) Cup. The tournament will be held at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia on December 1st and 2nd. Building on last year’s event, which included five teams from New South Wales (NSW) and the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), this year’s tournament will include ten teams from five different states (NSW, the ACT, Western Australia, Queensland and Victoria).

Gameplay will begin at approximately 10am on Saturday morning (5pm EST) with round-robin pool play. The top six teams will return on Sunday to battle for the honor of being crowned Oceania’s Regional Champions, taking home the QUAFL Cup.

In addition to the finals on Sunday, the teams eliminated during pool play will compete in the first ranked wheelchair quidditch tournament to become Australia’s national wheelchair quidditch champions!

For more detailed information on the QUAFL Cup, check out the Australian Quidditch Association website. For live updates and results, keep your browser hooked to the @AQAOfficial Twitter account. There will be live tweeters operating from both fields all weekend so you can keep track of all the action!
