Membership Department
North American Expansion Team (Southwest US, Western Canada)
As an Expansion Rep, you will help the sport of quidditch grow by creating teams at schools and in communities where it doesn’t yet exist. You will make contacts at universities and colleges with the goal of finding someone who is interested in starting a team and then assist them with the early stages of development.
Key duties & responsibilities:
- Make cold calls/emails
- Create and manage Facebook pages for potential or new teams
- Work with fellow Expansion Reps to create sustainable outreach program
- Attend weekly Skype meetings
- Help organize contact between experienced and new teams through information sessions, practices and scrimmages, first games, etc

Spanish Expansion Representative (European Expansion Team)
As the Spanish Expansion Representative, your role will be helping quidditch expand where it doesn’t exist yet. You will make contacts with people all over Spain aiming to find individuals interested in starting new teams and you will assist them in the preliminary stages.
Key duties & responsibilities:
- Work with fellow Expansion Reps to create sustainable outreach program
- Devise new ways to promote quidditch taking into account the specific cultural background of your country and Europe
- Help organize contact between experienced and new teams through information sessions, events, conventions, etc
- Make cold calls/emails
- Create and manage pages and groups on different social networks for potential new Spanish teams
- Attend weekly Skype meetings

Development Department
Development Coordinators
The goal of the development department in the IQA is to facilitate outreach projects and events that enhance the lives of quidditch players or any other individuals in need, in order to fulfill the organization’s mission and maintain appropriate progress toward the organization’s long-term goals and purpose. The teams within the development department include Literacy, Title 9 ¾, Kidditch, Middle School, High School, and Fundraising & Grants.

Fundraising & Grants team
-Solicit donations, apply for grants, and develop other fundraising strategies
High School Development team
-Work on examining ways that the needs of high school quidditch teams can be better met. This team focuses not on interactions with specific teams, but rather on general areas of improvement and needs for high school quidditch players.
Middle School Development team
-Explore ways to expand quidditch to middle schools and work to develop a curriculum for implementing the sport.
Game Play Department
Referee Development Team Coordinator (apply by June 4th)
The Game Play Department is looking to add coordinators to its Referee Development Team (RDT). The RDT works to develop IQA-wide referee policies, codes of conduct, development programs, and certification procedures, as well as individual referee quality. Further, each RDT Coordinator will be responsible for certification events in their region and managing all of their region’s certified referees.
Members of the referee program will be expected to volunteer at least five hours per week, including a weekly Skype meeting that lasts approximately three hours, continuing discussion throughout the week amongst the group, and traveling to nearby tournaments to administer certification on weekends.
Anyone is welcome to apply, although the RDT’s decision will be partly based on the applicant’s geographical location.
Key duties & responsibilities:
-The five-hour weekly minimum of volunteer work does not include travel to tournaments on weekends, and will likely be higher in the weeks leading up to World Cup
-Continually update and reword the IQA Referee Qualifying Written Test
-Each RDT member will be assigned a field at World Cup VII to assign and direct the refs on that field for the entire tournament
-Ability to travel to tournaments on weekends, even if your team might not be going
-Be a part of the hardest-working and most fun subgroup in the IQA
Required knowledge, skills, & abilities:
-A thorough knowledge of IQA Rulebook 6 (and 7, upon its release this summer)
-IQA Referee Certification (although you can apply before being certified, and the RDT will attempt to certify you before making a hiring decision)
-The ability to travel to the closest tournaments to you on weekends, sometimes with your team, but sometimes without
-A keen eye for the qualities that it takes to be an IQA certified referee. One of the most important aspects of being an RDT member is being able to administer a strict but fair field test

Referee Training Coordinator
The Referee Development Team is introducing Referee Training Coordinator (RTCs) to assist in the certification and training of referee and assistant referee candidates in each IQA region.
Key duties & responsibilities:
-Maintain communication with regional RDT Coordinators, with full updates communicated to the RDT immediately after every tournament, training session, and certification event
-Continually attend tournaments to train and certify new referee applicants. Travel will be required.
-Participate in weekly meetings with RDT Coordinators, and staff at least one tournament every month (if possible)
Required knowledge, skills, & abilities:
-A thorough knowledge of IQA Rulebook 6 (and IQA Rulebook 7, upon its release this summer)
-IQA Head Referee Certification (although you can apply before being certified, and the RDT will attempt to certify you before making a hiring decision)

Tackling Specialist (apply by May 20th, include answers to supplemental questions)
Currently many players still perform tackles in ways that are dangerous or would be illegal in other sports, and it is our goal to train all of our players in how to safely and properly tackle, and create rules that enforce this behavior. As a first step to making quidditch tackling safer and more effective, the IQA is seeking a tackling specialist to review the current tackling rules and make suggestions for refinements, additions, and specifications
The position is currently a temporary, volunteer position with the primary objective of creating more specific tackling language and rules in version 7 of the rulebook. If this project is successful, the candidate could go on to be a consultant in developing training videos and in-person tackling clinics for the IQA. Applicants will be working under the IQA’s gameplay department and will be expected to submit their work to the gameplay director for approval and incorporation in version 7 of the rulebook.
Applicants should have played quidditch for at least one year, and played another tackle sport for a minimum of one year at an organized level (interscholastic club sports or varsity sports only – intramural or pick-up does not count). Football players may apply, but rugby players are preferred. The more experience that the applicant has in tackle sports/rugby and quidditch, the better.
Applicants should include a resume that covers academic, working, and athletic backgrounds, as well as a cover letter that includes the following:
1. Problems that the applicant sees with tackling in the IQA currently, both as it happens on the pitch and how it is addressed in the rulebook.
2. Suggestions for how to improve the tackling language in the rulebook, and why they think these suggestions will make tackling safer and more effective.
3. Use of explanations of their background and experiences to support their conclusions.
Rulebook Translator (include answers to supplemental questions)
The IQA is currently seeking members of the quidditch community with multilingual backgrounds to translate the IQA rulebook into different languages. We are specifically looking for translations in Spanish, French, Italian, and Mandarin Chinese but other languages are welcome and encouraged!

-Translate the IQA rulebook, sixth edition, into another language
-Work with other multilingual volunteers to produce the best translation possible
-Ensure rulebook translations exactly and accurately match current IQA rules

Developers

Teams Department
Southwest Regional Director (apply by June 3rd, include 1 letter of recommendation and answers to supplemental questions)
The Southwest Region is looking for a new Regional Director. We are looking for a dedicated, organized, enthusiastic, and passionate leader to become the new Southwest Regional Director. The Southwest Region includes the states of Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
As Regional Director, you will work closely with the other RDs and with your region’s State Representatives to foster environments of competition and community within your region. RDs can expect to work at least 10-20 hours per week at the position (depending on the season).
Regional Director Qualifications:
-reside for the duration of the academic year in the region which he/she represents
-possess excellent communication skills
-have at least 1-2 years of quidditch experience

-Work with Expansion Representatives to develop and find new teams, and be proactive in contacting local schools in order to grow the sport

Marketing Department
Assistant Editor (include two letters of recommendation and answers to supplemental questions)
The Assistant Editor will aid the Editorial Manager in running the editorial team, including assigning article topics, supervising staff writers and copy editors, and editing and posting articles to the IQA website. Staff Photographer (include link to portfolio)
Staff photographers take photos of games and tournaments and submit them to the IQA for use in online articles, social media outlets, and in print. For any event attended by a staff photographer, the IQA will publish only photos of that event taken by that photographer.

Video Production Intern
The IQA is currently seeking candidates for a video production internship. Interns can expect to work approximately 5 hours per week, although times will fluctuate during peak seasons. We require that interns be with us for at least 6 months. After the internship is complete, it is possible for interns to be offered a position within the video production team if available. Conventions Coordinator (Include two letters of recommendation)
Conventions Coordinators will help organize the IQA’s presence at various fan and pop culture conventions across the world. This presence typically manifests itself in the form of demonstration matches between IQA teams, exhibition matches in which convention guests participate, and formal presentations and panels. Conventions Coordinators will also staff information booths at these events.
Conventions Coordinators will serve under the Conventions Manager in the Marketing Department. The position is unique both in terms of its responsibilities and its time commitment. Coordinators should expect to work 7 hours per week, or more in the weeks leading up to a convention they are organizing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
-Act as primary contact for organizing IQA appearances at certain conventions
-Foster strong relationships with convention organizers and other third parties
-Plan details of convention presence with the Conventions Manager and other coordinators
-Track the progress for each event as needed
-Direct on-site operations at conventions, including managing demo matches and kidditch events, and giving formal presentations
-Coordinate established teams to appear and volunteer at conventions
-Represent the IQA to external organizations and new audiences in a professional manner
All candidates must:
-Have at least 1 year previous quidditch experience
-Understand how the game of quidditch works to explain the rules to new audiences
-Be knowledgeable about the history and organizational structure of the IQA, and its functions as a non-profit organization and sports league
-Have the ability to work under strict deadlines
-Be able to make tough but rational decisions as needed in real time
-Possess good public speaking skills
-Be available for the entirety of some weekends (approximately 3-4 per year) to attend conventions

Human Resources Department
Human Resources Director (apply by May 16th; include 2 letters of recommendation)
The human resources department is responsible for developing staffing policies, keeping in touch with all volunteers and departments of the IQA, reviewing applications, and dealing directly with staff progress and assessment. The HR Director works on a volunteer basis, and is responsible for managing their staff of HR associates as well as coordinating all of the organization’s HR projects. The position will require approximately fifteen to twenty (15-20) hours of work per week.

Human Resources Associates
The IQA is currently seeking interested and dedicated individuals to join the Human Resources Department and help manage the entire International Quidditch Association and its volunteers. This position will require 7 – 10 hours of work per week.

Accounting
The IQA seeks an accountant to provide volunteer services to the IQA on an annual, quarterly, or monthly basis. The ideal candidate is a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) with tax-filing experience who has worked with other corporations, particularly non-profits. However, any IQA supporter studying or working in finance and experienced at using Excel and/or QuickBooks to manage finances is welcome to apply and will find that there is volunteer work available at any level. Students at the undergraduate or masters levels are welcome to apply as well.
The IQA is a 501(c)(3) organization, so any work performed in these roles can qualify for community or academic service requirements. Additionally, while all of these positions are initially volunteer, the IQA is planning to expand rapidly over the next several years, and financial management will become one of the first services the the league will likely need to pay for once it is able.
