Stony Brook University’s Quidditch team is lead by co-captains Daniel Ahmadizadeh and Steven Marchessault. This will be the second World Cup for Stony Brook's squad, and this year they will join over one hundred teams and 2,100 college athletes—arriving from four nations and twenty-two US states—in their pursuit of the title of World Champion. SBU Quidditch members are crazed with excitement at the prospect of participating in what some are calling "the college event of the century." The Varsity team will be supported by Stony Brook community's Quidditch team, the "Department of Homeland Sorcery" as they make their World Cup debut.
The two-day tournament is a fun, family-friendly event, and the IQA would like to encourage friends, fans, alumni, strangers, and their families to come support our teams in their World Cup run. Purchasing tickets from Stony Brook Quidditch helps support our organization, because brooms, hoops, bus/train fare, and Felix Felicis aren't free! Tickets can be purchased by responding to this email. We are selling a $20 two-day pass that grants access to all of the matches (excluding the final, please email with questions), music events, and numerous other antics planned by the IQA. Ticket prices are about to go up, so please contact us as soon as possible!
For more information on the event itself, visit www.facebook.com/sbuquidditch. To ask specific questions, please contact the IQA's PR representative at press@internationalquidditch.org.
