With the first practice of only 6 players and a lacrosse goal in place of hoops, students were not discouraged. Practice began to meet twice a week thereafter, which helped UMass Quidditch grow rapidly. Anticipation and great interest from other students led to the decision to make Quidditch into an official registered student organization. Thus, UMass Quidditch was born.
Since then, we have rapidly grown from a small club into a solid team of competitive players that have played against schools like Emerson, BU, Harvard, Yale, Vassar, Villanova, Ives Pond, Tufts and SUNY Geneseo. We hope continue spreading the word about Quidditch and to show some team spirit while we play. We look forward to playing in more tournaments against other colleges and universities. Brooms up!
